Find a way to hire more police officers

It's a zero-sum game: more money for police = less money for schools, parks, public health, programming, etc. that would prevent crime in the first place. 50% of the general fund already goes to policing, and yet we're closing schools. Do we need to get to 100% of the budget going to policing and nothing for anything else to drive the lesson home?

I'm not sure the existing police force is being efficiently utilized. I hear gun shots almost every night near where I live and rarely see any police response while I've seen multiple police cars at a highway car crash scene
